Launching The Strategic Business Influencer podcast has been one of the most rewarding projects of my career. My goal with this series is simple: to spotlight leaders who are proving that in today’s world, the greatest competitive advantage isn’t being the loudest voice in the room—it’s being the most trusted.
Every episode, I sit down with founders, CEOs, and executives who are building businesses that stand out by leading with grit, clarity, and purpose. These aren’t glossy highlight reels. They’re real conversations about the messy, inspiring, and often unexpected journeys behind successful brands.
And in my recent episode with Brandon Bloch, we covered all of that and more.
Meet Brandon Bloch
Brandon is an award-winning director and the co-founder of Hometeam, a remote-first production company that’s redefining how world-class content gets made. Hometeam was named one of Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies and has produced campaigns for brands like Apple, HBO, Samsung, and T-Mobile.
But what makes Brandon’s story so compelling isn’t just the big names or awards, it’s the way he and his co-founders turned a moment of global uncertainty into a brand-new model for creative production.
From Constraint to Breakthrough
Hometeam was founded in 2020, when the production world came to a halt during the pandemic. Instead of freezing, Brandon and his partners leaned on the networks they’d built over years in the filmmaking world, filmmakers in every U.S. state and over 150 countries. They realized the obstacle wasn’t a lack of talent, but a lack of travel.
Their solution? Go local, go remote. Hometeam pioneered a model where crews on the ground could deliver high-quality content without flying entire teams across the globe. That strategic pivot not only kept projects moving but also created new opportunities for filmmakers everywhere.
Key Takeaways from the Conversation
Here are five of my favorite lessons from the episode:
-
Constraints can spark creativity. Hometeam was born by seeing obstacles as opportunities.
-
Shift from creator to entrepreneur. Brandon shared the importance of learning to work on the business, not just in it.
-
Community is a strength. Hometeam’s network of filmmakers proved that trust built over years can pay off in pivotal moments.
-
Brand is more than a logo. For Brandon, brand identity is the connective tissue that unites values, mission, and execution.
-
Human storytelling wins. In an AI-driven world, Brandon believes authentic, human-centered stories will always matter
Why This Conversation Matters
Brandon’s journey is a reminder that entrepreneurship isn’t just about bold visions—it’s about mindset. The ability to adapt, reframe challenges, and lead with values is what separates businesses that fade from those that last.
For anyone navigating change, this episode is an inspiring example of how to stay grounded while pushing into the future.
